News: The 2019 Hamilton NY CPS Gathering!

Our 2019 Gathering was held in Hamilton NY, and hosted by Sharon and John Voninski. Lots of fun and we had an absolute blast. Well planned activities, interesting places to visit, and a knock-down spectacular venue made for memories we will keep forever. Some pictures, stories from the road, and more for those that could not attend are linked below. Serious thanks to Sharon, John, and their assistants for opening their home and their hearts to our CPS family. Nicely done.

News: A New Look and New Features: Next time you log into our CPS Website, you’ll notice a new look. Software updates give a clean new and bright view, and as an extra bonus you’ll find that using your smart devices with CPS is now a whole lot friendlier. There are tutorials and hints on how to best utilize the new features.

Software Hints: http://www.cessna-pilots.net/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=386966#Post386966

Best of all, this upgrade was accomplished literally seamlessly (with the site down for less than 30 minutes in the small hours of the morning). This was well planned (as you might expect), and is being very well received. We’ve all experienced and shuddered from ‘updates’ where archives disappear, and the ‘improvements’ leave a lot to be desired. The CPS upgrade was done properly. Every bit of data we’ve gathered through the years is exactly where you left it with no losses! Our archives are intact. While it was seamless to users, that doesn’t mean it didn’t come without a tremendous effort, and we can thank “CPS Admin” and his crew for this success.

Funding: Although CPS has no membership fee, we do have expenses.

Member Support is needed. It’s rare we solicit the Membership for funding (the last request being 4 years back).

We do need a few dollars to run things and ensure we have the resources to keep the lights on, and fires stoked. As a no-fee for-free Type Club that does not take advertising, we rely on the Membership for the money needed to keep us in the black.

No Member, Officer, Official, or Volunteer ever takes a dime from the coffers for their personal use.

There is a request posted in the Forums asking for your support. http://www.cessna-pilots.net/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=387649&Searchpage=1&Main=24279&Words=%2Bdonations&Search=true#Post387649

For those who feel that CPS delivers something substantive to their ownership/maintenance/proficiency and overall enjoyment of aviation, please consider supporting the CPS ethic with a few shekels.

Other Fly-In Activities:

Cessnas to Oshkosh Link:  By the time this is published, our Sisters and Brothers flying the Cessnas to Oshkosh Mass Arrival will have completed their task and be enjoying the cameraderie at aviation's "Meca".  Congratulations again and a salute to their success.

Fly-Ins and CPS:
We were fortunate to have serious and substantial representation at both the Frederick MD (KFDK) and Livermore CA (KLVK) fly-ins. Our CPS display booth was well manned and a good deal of fun was had while culling up the attendees to consider joining our group. Thanks to all that stepped up and assisted at both events.

Links: AOPA Frederick MD: Keith and Heather Dorken, Dan Barrens, Art Hansen (talk about a group of storied CPS veterans!) came out and flew our flag. http://www.cessna-pilots.net/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=379666#Post379666

  1. AOPA Livermore CA: Eric Finley (Team Leader) , Maurice Gunderson (SIC) were joined by a few drop ins, and showed up nicely for our CPS Family. http://www.cessna-pilots.net/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=383710#Post383710

Ed: The commitment to ‘getting there’.      We take note with a good deal of pride the extra effort our Members put forward to attend our few gatherings. Even when the owned airplane is down for maintenance or otherwise not the best choice for transportation (due to weather concerns, distances, high obstacles, or iron clad schedules), that doesn’t stand in the way of the dedicated. Folks take to the sky by silver tube, take to the road by cars and even RVs, then travel THOUSANDS of miles to spend a few days with friends that have become ever more important and dear through the years.

It is a testament to the quality of the character of the Membership both individually and collectively that such efforts are put forward, and a source of true pride to be part of this group. Thank you all…

What You Are: Those who share their hard won knowledge, experience, trips, and expertise via our Forums form the very backbone and true strength of this CPS home. Taking the time to post a picture, go through a procedure, assist clearing the smoke from the sky (so to speak), and helping to ensure that folks reading along can learn something of use, or just read along with a smile takes an effort.

Your efforts are truly appreciated and valued. We look forward to seeing your posts, learning from your experience, and seeing you at one of the upcoming gatherings.

Fly Safely.
