Upcoming Fly-in Destinations:

Triple Tree: Sept 7 –10 2016

One of the most laid back and fun aviation events.  It should be on your calendar as it is unique.  No one trying to sell you anything.   Airplanes, camping (if you can call marble topped bathrooms 'camping'), plenty of hot water, a friendly staff, good food, music, and to be surrounded by beautiful aircraft on what might be the world's best maintained billiard table smoothe grass runway.  A full concierge service too (no kidding).   The grass runway is over 7000' long and over 400' wide.! A beautifully crafted and wonderful event.

CPS will be there with Jeff C. somewhere beneath the CPS banner.   Tune in and sign on:

KXSA Fly In at Tappahanock VA!  Sept 10, 2016

Greg and Pat Wright invites their CPS buds down to experience that home town hospitality.  Both Greg and Pat are well known and respected for the welcome they put out for everyone in the CPS family.  No one has ever come away from an XSA gathering without a smile and a story or two. A CPS tradition.

AOPA Fly-In Bremerton WA 08-20-16

Lane Gormley leads the CPS effort at Bremerton.:

Lane and Gretchen  Gormley, Daryl Medd, Judy Parrish, and Jeff Axle did our CPS Family proud under the sky at Bremerton's AOPA Fly-In.  AOPA reported that this was their most successful and highest attended regional fly-in to date.  Judy's "Sherbet" is always a great attraction and the CPS crew had their share of folks coming up for information and picture opportunities.  Nice job everyone!

CPS Bremerton Team

Montauk 2016 Gathering August 21 and 28th!

When weather forecasts for weekend date #1 made some folks cancel with regret, Bob V doubled down and hosted two Sunday gatherings in a row.  Everyone that couldn't make week 1 (and a couple folks that made both gatherings) was sure appreciative.  So two complete CPS crews were able to enjoy the beauty and the beach at KMTP.  Dialogue and pictures included, and you've got to admire the guts it takes (some guts in plain evidence) to be seen in bathing wear by your friends.   A very cool and stand-up example of CPS hospitality... Thanks to Bob Vila and Lauren Raines for their generous nature.

As database costs are both on-going and not insubstantial, this should allow some minor relief from database hemorrhage.

Doggy Rescues:  We have a boatload of folks that use their airplanes for higher purposes.  LightHawk, Angel Flight, and various doggy rescue missions are flown 'quietly' by humble individuals who wouldn't think of calling attention to their efforts.  Editors being under no such pressure, we are pleased to say a word of thanks to Bruce Cohen and Ed Abrams for these pictures of little lives that have been forever blessed by good men and their airplanes...

Op Ed:  The Heart of the Group...

Many of you read about the various CPS fly-in events.  Those that have attended become 'addicted' almost immediately.  It's a good gig.

Some of these are simple 'breakfast gatherings, often impromptu.  Some are more crafted and have some scaffold beneath.  Our participation as invited guests at the AOPA fly-ins being an example.  The upcoming event at Triple Tree yet another.

At the heart of every event big or small is a good soul.  That guy or gal is someone that took the initiative to say 'I can do this'.  They recognized the opportunity to give something back.  Our annual gathering,  the most recent having been hosted by Jane and John Marden, is without parallel in that it is done by volunteers. No one collects a dime, and there has never been any kind of administrative or event fee imposed.  Our fly-in activities are conducted as 'family gatherings' with you and your family regarded as part of the whole.  No one profits, there is no glory.  Just some of your CPS sisters and brothers doing something nice for the sake of sharing a good time.

Next time you're thinking about heading out for a destination in your airplane, think of how much more fun could be had were a few of your CPS buds and their families with you to share.  Put up a post and try to develop a buzz.  Once you spend some time face to face, your on-line friends quickly become friends for life.

The good soul behind the next CPS gathering, could be you.

Free Manuals..

Cessna Corporate is continuing to offer parts manual downloads for many models on their website. We encourage you to download and safeguard a copy of these vital records so that you’ll always have them available. A thumb-drive kept in the airplane for use during your travels might be a good idea as well.

Early Fall Flying:

As we slowly come to the realization that we're not actually going to be char-broiled by the noon sun, the appeal of the airplane goes up.  With the prime-season destinations now just a bit less crowded, and with hotel rates coming back to reality, many of us are going to be lighting off for a fall trip.  Whether that trip is across the state or across the USA, keep in mind that Fall weather is also at times unsettled.  The environment aloft and at the surface may vary from winter-like cold to summer like broil on any given day due to the range we enjoy as pilots in a free USA.  Make sure you and your passengers are prepared for varying weather.   Ensure your emergency bag is equipped to deal with whatever nature throws your way.

Special thanks as always: to those that take the time to share experience and counsel on our forums. Your generosity of self sets the CPS standard.
