We're California Bound: CPS 2017 Fly-In
Here's the Link! CPS GTG 2017
June 21– 25, 2017. Mark your calendars, set aside some time. We're heading to Fullerton KFUL and we've got to say a thanks to Mike Jesch who has agreed to be our host for our 2017 National Fly-In.
Mike's got a set of events that are forming up with style. Besides the attractions at KFUL, Mike's got ideas for fly-outs that alone would be worth the trip. Combined w/ the usual fun we have whenever we get together, Mike's going to be earning some serious applause.
To take on an event of this magnitude is no small undertaking. Mike's going to be needing a hand from time to time, so please pitch in where you can.
For most of us, it will be simple navigation... just set the compass on W and stop when you see the Pacific. Couldn't get easier.
The more the better, so start your planning. This is going to be fun. Poke your nose in on the conversation. Your airplane wants to take you someplace special.
AOPA Fly-in Destinations 2017:
Members of your CPS Forum Board were again honored to be invited to hold counsel w/ Chris Eads Director of Outreach and Events, and Tom Haines Sr. VP of Media and Outreach, and other Officials from the AOPA staff regarding their 2017 offerings. CPS has been invited to exhibit and represent our CPS Family at each venue in the coming year. These events have become rally points and those who have attended and helped with the manning of the CPS display booth will tell you the whole thing is a real hoot. With the venues having been announced, we can start our plans for the coming year. (AOPA Fly-in LINK)
Thus far, we have folks who have stepped up with commitments to assist with Tampa Florida 10-27/28, Camarillo California 4-28/29, and Groton Connecticut 10-6/7. We are actively seeking for someone to pick up and run with the ball for the Norman Oklahoma 9-08/09 Fly In. No matter where you are, if within range, please consider taking a day with your CPS brothers and sisters. We all are in debt to Doug Oakley for coordinating these Fly-ins, and acting as CPS´s official liaison with AOPA.
So with our National Fly-In and the AOPA stuff set in stone, you've got quite a flying schedule packed to the nines for 2017. Somewhere, near or far, your CPS pals are pulling together. There is a chair waiting with your name on it.

Op Ed: The Holiday Season
We are all aware of the dangers the Holiday season poses to auto drivers. Folks running place to place, often in a rush, pressured by Holiday stress, and on occasion emboldened by alcohol. Slick roads, it's getting dark earlier, 'let's have a pop or two and drive' mentality....
The above is reality. Thankfully most of us can travel by air. We are far more in-charge than those plying the roadways. Let's take a moment to assess the stress, do that real-deal preflight, get and understand a complete weather briefing before we mount up. Auto drivers are not the only ones that feel Holiday pressures. Remember at all times we are P.I.C. Let's greet the new year with renewed commitment to always doing it right.
Hope to see you all at the GTG next year.

Free Manuals..
Marvel-Schebler/Precision Carburetors: Troubleshooting manuals and service bulletins for Marvel-Schebler carburetors were available free at the time of this posting. The Forum Board strongly recommends that you consider downloading the documents appropriate to your airplane to your permanent aviation library at your first opportunity.
Cessna Corporate is continuing to offer parts manual downloads for many models on their website. We encourage you to download and safeguard a copy of these vital records so that you’ll always have them available. A thumb-drive kept in the airplane for use during your travels might be a good idea.

These Manuals have gone through periods where they have become unavailable without notice.. The current link "https://support.cessna.com/custsupt/csupport/newlogin.jsp" seems to be up and running again..Your Forum Board will try to keep the links updated with your help. Please help us keep the Membership apprised .
The Forum Board again would like to emphasize the importance of securing your own personal download. Relying on off-site hosting for such critical documents may not be 100% reliable. We suggest you protect your interests by downloading a copy to your own personal aviation library.
Continental Engine Manuals: Continental has made available many engine manuals for free download. Your Forum Board encourages every owner/operator to take advantage of this resource.
Special thanks as always: to those that take the time to share experience and counsel on our forums. Your generosity of self sets the CPS standard.
