March 2020 Issue
March. Spring is here. If you've been flying through the winter, you're sharp. If you've been talking about flying all winter, you're likely rusty. Get with your CFI and hone that sharp edge that makes you a safe pilot.
Same goes for the airplane. If it has been a slow usage winter, time to get w/ your A/P and get that gal some tender loving care.
For Spring is no longer just around the corner. Spring is here. Celebrate with a flight!
Plans for Sun n Fun? Our CPS Gathering in MT? Osh? Triple Tree? Maybe you're figuring on stopping in and lending a hand at one of the AOPA fly-ins where CPS is representing? Breakfasts and fly-outs with family, random adventures,.... all this hinges on you being at your very best, and in command of an aircraft that is truly airworthy.
GET IT DONE!
Along those lines, we direct you to our CPS Forums. Folks doing their best to be of mutual assistance and support. Sharing methods, operational techniques, and insight. A unique gathering of folks who champion the concept of constant evolution and learning with the goal of being deserving of the title "Airman".
Destinations:
You bought the airplane with visions of sharing the wonders of the sky with your family and friends. Take them somewhere THEY want to go. Make it fun to be a passenger by planning carefully, and ensuring the destination is something they'll remember with a smile.
Destinations! Cody WY. Tuesday 08-04-2020 thru Saturday 08-08-2020

Discussions on our Forums:
Alert Items:
Both Avidyne and Aspen had a bit of a hiccup the last month. The Avidyne issue was w/ loading a Data Cycle, while Aspen has reported some cases of in-flight resets. Every manufacture has had instances of failures, so keeping up on alerts is a form of insurance. Also, remember to check the notices from Jepp when you download your DBs.
Other Avionics Discussions:
Avionics Install Backlogs: Canada as an alternative?
On Cross Model Reading: Lots of the Cessna Family of single engine high wing aircraft share parts, solutions, etc. Reading beyond your particular model's forums can broaden your knowledge and often answer a lot of questions. Worth your time.
172/Skyhawk:
182 Skylane
Heater Duct: Firewall to doorframe
Stationaire/206
C206: Fuel Flow Instrument Stopped In-Flight
The 210/Centurion
The 210 guys and gals continue to flesh out the Spar AD. As of this writing they have FAA contact info, and are sharing the intel as it comes down. Several updates being made, sometimes multiple updates daily as our 210 Centurion owners and maintenance pros make headway to preserve and protect this stallion. Great work. If you own a 210 or 177, you should be reading and contributing to the discussion. This is important stuff.
What screws are used for the aft seat rails?
Other Aircraft:
(Side Note: A few years back Bill Seidl hosted our annual CPS gathering. Our Saturday night banquet was at Evergreen, with the tables set up UNDER the Spruce Goose. Told you these events are special!)
Bonanza Tales: Insight and intellect from one of our low-winged Members.
Pilot Skill:
Maintenance:
Enlarge Sender Hole in Fuel Tank?
Annual Inspection (PTT Relocation)
One or the Whole Enchilada (cylinder replacement quandry)
We can now change our oil legally (common sense from the FAA?)
Maintenance Favorites: At the top of our Forum Pages we've an area for 'favorites'. Maintenance Favorites links are meant to be shortcuts to stuff folks need from time to time. Let the Forum Board know if you see something that deserves being placed in that area. Any Forum Board Member can get this done. If you think it is worthwhile, chances are others will too.
The link above is a thread within our Destinations header. Simple really, share your daily flights through words and pictures. The last month we saw yet again how our Members embrace the wonder of flight, time spent with friends, and their ability to take us along even if it is only from the comfort of our living room chairs. Spectacular vistas, friends united or reunited, doggies on their way to a new home (and a fresh lease on life).
Few things are as inspiring as living this dream through the eyes and actions of our CPS crews as they ply the sky. Take a moment to read up, and take a moment when you can to share your special times.
Special Mention: One of our founding Members Dave Kalwishky made a promise to himself that exemplifies committment and courage. As an aviator, he knows the value of those qualities and the other day shared with us his achievement.
When CPS Members need some inspiration, they need look no further than within this special group. Special thanks to all that shared their vision, values, and travels this month. Your efforts take us all on the rides of our lives.
Newsletter: While we focus on discussions going on in the Forums, we welcome your requests and submissions for inclusion in this Newsletter. Send requests/submissions to: newsletter@PROTECTED.
Have an idea for a good flight story? Jot it down and share it via the Newsletter or in our Forums. Aviators look forward to hearing about your adventures.
